Jessica Simpson admits she gave a memorable television interview
Jessica Simpson has written her memoirs in the book Open Book, in which she talks about her addictions, already overcome, to drugs and alcohol. In this context, the actress and singer reveals several unpublished passages of her relationship with drinking.
Regarding the episodes that she went through because of this problem, she mentioned this Friday, in an interview on the morning show Today, a remembered television appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017, in which, as she confessed, she was "totally drunk ".
The artist herself said that she faltered then in a moment of "weakness" and she admitted to drinking before appearing on the program. "I can't even watch the interview," the 39-year-old actress explained. "It was a difficult time for me, I was not on the right path," she reflects now.
Simpson acknowledges that she knew she was not "present" at the time. In fact, several viewers then wondered "if she had been drinking" after seeing her on screen and commented that she "could barely form a coherent sentence."
"She was in a spiral and couldn't find herself," she said of those rough years. In her book, the star also reveals for the first time that she was sexually abused as a child.
The emotional pain resulting from this experience, along with other stressors, including professional pressures, led her to abuse alcohol and stimulants, a dependency that would later lead her doctor to warn her that her life was in serious danger.

"She was killing me with drink and pills", she admits and points out that it was then that she decided to face rehabilitation treatment, from which she was discharged in November of that same year. Since then, she says that she has not drank again.

"Giving up alcohol was easy," she says. "I was mad at the drink because it kept me blind to what was happening to me." In one of the most poignant scenes in the book, the actress describes an episode in which she hit rock bottom after a Halloween party at her house later that year.
That's when she told her closest friends, "I have to stop. And if it's the alcohol that's doing this, then I'm quitting."
The singer also tells in her book that her husbaanson, father of her three children, Maxwell, 7 years old; Ace, 6, and Birdie, 10 months, quit drinking at the same time she did.
"Eric also decided to get clean the second I did," she says. "He told me, 'I'll do it with you, honey.' And so he did. He's just like that, a very loving person, as well as being the most amazing father on the planet."totally drunk
