In 2004, the Super Bowl halftime show was performed by Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, two singers whose fame was sky high and who have now become music legends.

However, within that ceremony a controversial slip occurred that marked her performance for history: Jackson ended up showing one of her b*easts.

At the time, Timberlake said it was a wardrobe malfunction, but recently his stylist, Wayne Scot Luka, said it was actually the former NSYNC member's idea.

The renowned costume designer revealed in an interview with Page Six that Justin pushed him in an attempt to get more attention than his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears, who had grabbed the spotlight after kissing Madonna and Christina Aguilera at that year's MTV Music Awards.

He “he insisted on doing something bigger than acting himself. He wanted a revelation” the man recalled.

Apparently the original concept was for Jackson to wear a pearl thong modeled after one Kim Cattral wore in an episode of the series "S-x and the City."

Janet was going to be in a Rocha dress, and Justin was going to step on the back of her dress to reveal her pearl thong, however, days before the show the outfit was changed for the leather suit that the singer would end up ripping off. , thus exposing the bust of Jackson before millions of spectators.

"I wouldn't call it a wardrobe 'malfunction' in a million years. It was the most functional wardrobe in history. As a stylist, he did what he was meant to do,” said Wayne Scot Luka.

Prompted by Timberlake's recent public apology to Jackson and Spears, the costume designer opened up about the incident 17 years ago. “Janet has already forgiven Justin privately. They made up a long time ago,” she claimed.

Scot Luka is currently working on a book that will tell that story and other dark secrets from the world of fashion and entertainment.

Last February, the singer issued a public apology to his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and singer Janet Jackson, saying that he had "failed them in the past"; after the broadcast of the documentaries about the life of Spears, transmitted by Netlix and Hulu, where they talked about the way in which their relationship ended.

Timberlake and Spears dated for three years before abruptly splitting in 2002. Spears was soon questioned by the media about her virginity, while Timberlake said he had had sex with her and later wrote the song "Cry me a river", with which insinuated that the singer had been unfaithful to him.

In the productions of the two aforementioned streaming platforms, Spears is visibly affected by comments about her virginity, which ranged from interviews (where she broke down in tears) to a violent declaration of an American politician of the time, in which he crucified the "princess of pop" for not being a "good example for girls".

Timberlake has also been accused of failing to take responsibility for his "wardrobe malfunction" during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, which exposed Janet Jackson.

Now, the singer talked about it on his Instagram account and also apologized for having spoken inappropriately or not raising his voice when he would have been correct in the past.

“I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson individually because I care about and respect these women and I know I failed them.

I understand that I fell short in those moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism” he stated.

Timberlake, 40, acknowledged that the entertainment industry grooms white men for success. "Due to my ignorance, I didn't recognize it for what it was while it was happening in my own life."
