Pince Harry A royal commentator says Prince Harry would need to make a decision on whether he wants to re-join royal life while his father, King Charles, is still in charge Eden believes Harry was initially in the King's plan for a "slimmed-down monarchy" and once believed the younger prince would conduct public engagements with his family.
But in 2020 Harry and Meghan Markle quit life as working royals and uprooted the family to Montecito in California.
Speaking on the Palace Confidential podcast, Eden said: "If Harry wants to come back at any stage, he needs to do it while his father is still King because I really do think that when Prince William is King, would he even take the calls from his brother?
“Can you imagine? I really can’t see him letting Harry come back and have a role again, they are irrelevant now, they are not wanted as part of the monarchy.” Host Jo Elvin pressed Eden on whether it's a case of "never say never" because Harry and William are family.
Eden responded it would take a "radical change" for William to welcome his brother back into the royal fold. Harry and William's relationship is said to have deteriorated over the years, with a series of snubs and misunderstandings leading to the 'feud' it is today.
The issues between the brothers reportedly began in 1998, with William keen to distance himself from Harry while the pair were at Eton. In his memoir Spare, Harry claimed that William told him to act as if they didn't know each other.
Harry later went on to claim William advised him against marry Meghan because it was "too fast" and "too soon". Things are said to have escalated further as Harry claimed that his brother grabbed him by the collar and knocked him to the floor during a heated argument about Meghan in 2019.
A year later Harry and Meghan made the shock exit from royal life. Harry has returned to the UK on occasion since but Meghan is said to be 'unlikely' to return to the UK.
